Wedding

Unlike traditional times, today, the Portuguese wait a long time to get married, usually until they are almost thirty.

Most people still get married in church, and that means the Catholic Church.  After a quick course, consisting of a few lectures by the priest, the wedding can take place.  To get married though you must have been baptized.

August is when most of the weddings occur because of the emigrants who come back at this time.  The streets are filled with cars honking their horns and the restaurants are booked solid for the reception parties.
